Kush Jansari is a senior at the University of Central Florida majoring in Biomedical Sciences on the pre-medical track and plans to apply to medical school in 2027. He serves as a research assistant under the mentorship of Harinath Sheela, MD, at the University of Central Florida College of Medicine, where he contributes to gastroenterology and clinical research focused on advancing evidence-based patient care. His current research includes the evaluation of novel emergency department pharmacotherapy strategies for esophageal food impaction, with particular emphasis on clinical outcomes, treatment effectiveness, and the role of multi-mechanism therapeutic approaches when endoscopic intervention is not immediately available. He is also involved in additional gastrointestinal and clinical research initiatives that have expanded his experience in study design, literature synthesis, data interpretation, and scientific communication. Through these experiences, Kush has developed a strong academic interest in translational clinical research and the use of real-world patient data to inform therapeutic decision-making and improve care delivery. His participation in the 16th World Gastroenterology, IBD, Hepatology Conference & Exhibition represents his first international scientific presentation. Kush intends to continue pursuing clinical investigation throughout medical school and aspires to a career in academic medicine integrating patient care, research, and evidence-based innovation.
